SPLC Watch is published as a public service by the Center for National Research, a tax-exempt, non-profit educational foundation organized under section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS Code. CNR is committed to expose to public scrutiny the radical nature and extremist connections of organizations that seek to undermine America’s tradition of constitutional liberty under the disguise of “social justice.”
Although threats to America’s culture and traditions come from a variety of sources, the most serious domestic threat comes from a host of well-financed radical left groups — some violent, some not — operating under the “social justice” umbrella. Typically these groups oppose free choice and support the use of force against private citizens to make them conform to left-wing moral and ideological prescriptions, and seek to achieve political power and influence through propaganda campaigns against political opponents by portraying them as “racists,” “bigots” and “hatemongers.”
The largest and most influential of these groups is the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which has expressed sympathy for domestic terrorists and recommended the poltical agendas of radical groups that defend cop killers.
CNR is non-partisan, and takes no stance on candidates for office or pending legislation. SPLC Watch and its related avenues of study are designed to help journalists, scholars, policy analysts, educators, and students of contemporary American politics, as well as the public at large understand the many bogus claims advanced by left-wing activists and their extremist agendas.
